Airline (Southwest) & Accommodations - New York, New York
We decided not to do a room block as there are so many different places to stay on the Strip and so many different price points. Most of our guests have never been to Las Vegas before or haven't been in 25 years so we decided to leave it open and have our guests stay where ever they wanted. We provided our discount code for Planet Hollywood, although it was only 10% off, as well as the website smartervegas.com for deals on accommodations.
My FI has never been to Vegas so I told him to look at the websites for the resorts and we would stay wherever he wanted. He chose NYNY, and you really can't beat the price. My parents and his parents then decided they would stay at NYNY too. Once people started asking around, everyone ended up chosing NYNY. Now I feel slightly bad about not doing a room block, but I really didn't want to pressure people into staying somewhere they didn't want to stay.
We live in Ontario, Canada and as Canadian's know, our choices for airlines are limited. The prices from Toronto to Las Vegas on both Air Canada and Westjet on the dates we needed were super expensive. So we decided to look at flying out of Buffalo (it's only a 2 hr drive from Toronto - plus we wouldn't have to go through Customs when we landed!) Southwest Airlines and Jackpot Vacations had a good deal for our travel dates, plus we could book our room and get 2 free show tickets all at the same time. We paid $1743.67 for 2 return tickets, BUF to LAS, 8 nights at NYNY and 2 tickets to see Cirque's KA.
